FAMILY HOME, CHANDIGARH

Occupying the full width of a plot in the city of Chandigarh, the Sokhi House is a smart, contemporary looking house clad in raw concrete and a soft, grey stone. The sculptural design is drawn and held together by a wide-spanning porch facing the front garden, making public space as well as shading windows. Stone fins and sunbreaks will moderate light penetrating into rooms. Accessed by a double height entrance hall, a staircase has been designed to maximise the experience of arrival and ascent, while giving views into the entrance hall and the rear garden.
